NSW galleries and museums, Aboriginal art, modern art, art tours
Around NSW, local communities celebrate their heritage through arts and cultural events, museums and galleries. If you’re heading out into regional NSW, don’t forget to check what’s on at the small towns and villages across the State.
There are plenty of fascinating stories to unravel in fine public museums which capture moments in history unique to a region or town. Some good examples include the Age of Fishes Museum at Canowindra, the Australian Fossil and Minerals Museum at Bathurst, The International Cricket Hall of Fame at Bowral, Shear Outback: Australian Shearers’ Hall of Fame at Hay and the Temora Aviation Museum.
A network of excellent public galleries can be found in regional centres as diverse as Albury, Grafton, Cowra, Newcastle and Moree.
Other cultural attractions well worth visiting around NSW include smaller private museums in historic towns with relics of earlier times. You’ll also find beautiful galleries showcasing the work of local artists, photographers, and crafts from candles to clayworks and woodturning. Aboriginal cultural experiences include specialist tours and events.
